The Mitsubishi Starion was a sports car from the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi, built between 1982 and 1990. The model was sold in North America under the brands Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth under the model name Conquest. The Starion is considered to be one of the forerunners of the modern sports car with turbocharger and has been very successful in rally and race.
The Starion is the fourth sports model of Mitsubishi Motors, after the Galant GTO, de Galant FTO and the Lancer Celeste. The Starion was launched in May 1982.
The Mitsubishi Starion is built in two variants: a narrower sports model and a wider rally model. Initially it had a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. There was also a 2.6 litre 4-line that was standard in the United States. In addition, the markets of Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States each had different levels of equipment.
In the United States the Starion was also sold from 1984 under the brand names Chrysler under the name Conquest. From 1984 to 1986 the Dodge Conquest and the Plymouth Conquest existed and from 1987 to 1989 the Chrysler Conquest.
